One out of three girls and one out of five boys experience some type of sexual violence before reaching the age of 18. For generations women have been held hostage to the aftereffects of sexual trauma, many without understanding what those aftereffects are. They have simply been trying to survive. Sexual violence is a widespread epidemic that impacts the lives of millions of men, women, and children throughout the world. It can include attempted and/or completed rape, sexual coercion and harassment, sexual contact with force or threat of force, and threat of rape (Fisher, Cullen, and Turner, 2000). According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), adolescents are more likely to experience sexually violent crimes than any other age group (AAP, 2001). In fact, greater than half of all victims of sexual crimes, including rape and sexual assault, are women under age 25. The National Crime Victim Survey (2000) noted that adolescent females age 16-19 are four times more likely than the general population to report sexual assault, rape, and attempted rape. Often this violence occurs within the context of dating or acquaintance relationships, with the female partner the likely victim of violence and the male partner the likely perpetrator.
This book is about healing and deliverance for the victims. The primary aim of deliverance is to promote an attitude of wholeness and freedom that is inclusive of all people desiring to be free. It is this type of attitude which promotes individual achievement and success, not only in the community, but also in the church. Thus, the purpose of the ministries of Forever Free and L.I.F.E. Outreach is to provide an environment of security that is conducive for healing, providing relevant and authentic Biblical principles to facilitate knowledge and understanding in the realm of the spirit world. Deliverance, however, is not something that can be thrust upon an individual without their prior consent and a desire to be delivered.
